Abstract

Open access to knowledge and free access to libraries mean that all libraries – public, academic, school libraries – are invited to increase new knowledge, helping the development of new scientific knowledge through the provision of readers and researchers with as much documentation as possible, consistent with their financial and organizational capacity. Librarians must develop their professional skills, from communication to participation in social networks, from the knowledge of logic and tools for open access to the ability to be trustworthy also in the digital world.
Libraries, especially university libraries, are strongly encouraged to support the policy of open access to the results of scientific research.
