Library marketing and promotion with QR Codes
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article outlines an overview of the most recent applications of QR Codes in libraries. QR (Quick Response) Code is a two-dimensional code used in commercial tracking applications and advertising. QR Codes are becoming usual in libraries (Usa, Great Britain, Australia) with applications like audio and videoguides or links to electronic resources. The information encoded can be a text, a URL, as well as other data. QR Codes may appear in magazines, business cards, and any other object users may need further information about. Being an effective way to connect the virtual world with the real one, QR technology can be useful to promote and foster the knowledge of cultural heritage too (e.g. museums, exhibitions, monuments etc.).
